Episode 218. Quid Pro Quo

10 minute Tuesday - Quid pro quo. Discovering all the hidden transactions in your life.

This Latin phrase is literally translated as - What for what, something for something, this for that.

Life is one big series of quid pro quo’s. We only do what works. Everything has some kind of transactional base, but most people are completely unaware of how these transactions really work.

This phrase has become another one of the most useful pieces of language I’ve ever added to my vocabulary because it helps to bring all the transactions of life into the light rather than having them remain hidden.

On today’s podcast episode I’ll show you the importance of understanding ‘what’s-in-it-for-me’ and ‘what’s-in-it-for-them’ so that you too can bring all of your hidden transactions into the light.

To do so is to greatly improve the quality of your relationships. Otherwise these hidden transactions breed obligation, expectation and resentment and cause you to behave in ways that violate your values.
